THE WEEK’S HORROR HEADLINES (1st-8th December)

Not got time to trawl the web for all the top horror news of the last week? Well allow me to give you a bite-size breakdown of the all biggest nightmarish news!

1: WALKING DEAD SPIN-OFF 'COBALT' CASTING NEWS

The companion series to the smash hit Walking Dead has revealed some of its cast. Frank Dillane and Alycia Dibnam Carey will both have prominent roles, and it has been announced that Cliff Curris will portray the male lead.
Can this cast give Rick, Daryl, Michonne and Carol a run for their money? The jury’s out, so let’s see...

2: TERMINATOR GENISYS TRAILER IS HERE

Terminator sequel/prequel/reboot(?) trailer hits the web.
There’s a T1000, multiple Arnies of varying ages, an ‘I’ll be back’ and even some ‘Come with me if you want to live’. That’s got to be worth a peak, right?

3: TRUE DETECTIVE HELMER TO START SHOOTING STEPHEN KING’S IT NEXT YEAR

The supremely talented Cary Fukunaga, who has been very much in demand since his sterling work on HBO’s True Detective, will commence his directorial duties on the first part of It next summer. Warner Bros plans to tell Stephen King’s horror masterpiece over two films. Fukunaga is only signed on for the first (and IMHO scarier) part.

4: PREACHER HEADING TOWARDS PILOT

AMC (them again) has revealed that it plans to take Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg’s adaptation of Garth Ennis’ Preacher comic to pilot. Should the pilot then receive the green light, it would shoot to air in 2016.
Preacher is one of the most fantastically compelling, controversial and politically incorrect things I have ever read, so I await this adaptation with both huge levels of excitement and trepidation. Fingers crossed.

5: FLAT HEADING FOR HORROR-ON-SEA... AND HICKEY’S HOUSE OF HORRORS!

Geoff Cockwill's highly-anticipated short film Flat is heading to Southend’s Horror-On-Sea Festival in January... And I will have an early review for you all later this week!
Starring talented up-and-comer Libby Gore, the short follows a young woman whose car gets a flat tire late one night and the terrifying journey through a dark wood that follows.
Word of mouth about the short is very good (I’ve seen it and whole-heartedly concur), so if you can get along to Horror-On-Sea to watch this and a number of further genre gems, tickets can be purchased here.

6: NEW THIS WEEK
Both Pyramid and Tusk were released into UK cinemas this last weekend, so if you fancy some big screen scares, be sure to check them out (and let me know your thoughts!)
Alternatively, if the thought of venturing out into the cold winter nights doesn't appeal, you can always stay at home with the blu-ray release of Six Classic Vincent Price films?
The Vincent Price in Six Gothic Tales boxset is available from Amazon.
