LET'S MAKE ANNIVERSARY!

The House is a big fan of Jason Vail, loving his turns in Valley of the Sasquatch, Crowhand, Dollface (AKA Dorchester's Revenge: The Return of Crinoline Head 2), Family Possessions and The Cabin.

Well now the multi-talented Vail is looking to produce, direct and star in an adaptation of Arylias Nova's chilling short story, Anniversary.

And this is where you guys come in!
Vail and Nova have launched a Kickstarter to raise funds for the film and are already halfway to their very modest target. But what they need is one last push to get there, so check it out!

There are number of very cool perks available, including signed DVDs and posters which can be mailed to anywhere in the world (including here in the UK).

So come on guys, let's do this!

THE WEEK’S HORROR HEADLINES (15th-22nd December)

Not got time to trawl the web for all the top horror news of the last week? Well allow me to give you a bite-size breakdown of the all biggest nightmarish news!

1: BILLIE WHITELAW PASSES AWAY

Sad news as actress Billie Whitelaw, perhaps best known to horror fans for her fantastic performance in the role of Mrs Baylock in The Omen, passed away aged 82.
Our sincerest condolences go out to her friends and family.

2: J.K. SIMMONS JOINS KONG: SKULL ISLAND

Legendary Pictures’ new King Kong film has added some heavy-weight acting talent with the announcement that J,K. Simmons will be joining The Avengers’ Tom Hiddlestone on the cast. Talent’s of that calibre working on a creature feature by the same studio that made the recent Godzilla and Pacific Rim can only be a good thing. Count me in!
Read Deadline’s article on the story here.

3: NEW IT FOLLOWS POSTER

The much anticipated horror film, It Follows has released a suitably creepy poster for its upcoming release. The movie has had rave early reviews and the buzz surrounding this pic is gathering significant Buzz. I’ll keep my eyes peeled and as soon as I can give you guys a scoop, you'll get it!

4: MICHAEL PITT LEAVES HANNIBAL

Michael Pitt will not be returning as Mason Verger in season 3 of NBC’s Hannibal. Instead Joe Anderson will take over the role. Anderson may be familiar to you from his roles in The Divide and The River. I‘m a little down on this as I loved Pitt‘s fruitloop performance in the second season of Hannibal, but let’s give the very talented Anderson some credit and wait and see shall we. In the meantime, check out that make-up job above!

5: SUPPORT BRITISH HORROR AND HELP FUND THE CAVERN DWELLERS

Dean Baldwin and the folks over at Abhorred Monster films need our help to get their film, The Cavern Dwellers made. Set in and based on the host of creepy legend surrounding Crank Caverns in St Helens and drawing some top acting talent from the United Kingdom.
Baldwin says: ‘The script is very much in the vain of a true British horror and we have drawn inspiration in films such as The Descent and mixed it with a little bit of the Evil Dead and thrown in a lot of black comic humour to make it as enjoyable as a modern day horror film can be. Although we are only asking for a modest budget we will not be satisfied if this film is nottop quality so we will work hard to produce this spectacular film.’
COME ON PEOPLE! Let’s do this. We’ve seen our friends across the pond succeed with the likes of Muck and Gutter Balls 2, so get over to the film’s Kickstarter page HERE and donate whatever you can. Why not get a ticket to a screening with the cast and crew for just £12?
SERIOUSLY, that's a steal! DO IT.
Also, follow the film on Twitter (The Cavern Dwellers @dwellersfilm), check out their Facebook page and give them a good old LIKE to spread the word. They need support and it is the time of year for that sort of thing!
Here’s the teaser to whet your appetite!

6: NEW THIS WEEK

Boxing day sees the dvd and blu-ray release of this year’s As Above, So Below.  I’ve not seen it but word of mouth was pretty hot, so it’s worth a look! Get over to Amazon to grab it.

LET’S GET MUCKY!

I like to keep my eyes peeled for any upcoming horror flicks that look like they could be just the thing for Hickey’s House of Horrors.
Last week I came across one such film — MUCK.
The upcoming effort from Steve Wolsh looks awesome — self aware humour, plenty of disgustingly gory PRACTICAL special effects, a whole host of Playboy models and living horror legend KANE HODDER playing the fantastically monickered ‘GRAWESOME CRUTAL’.
Here’s the official synopsis to further whet your appetite:

After narrowly escaping an ancient burial ground, long forgotten and buried underneath the marshes of Cape Cod, a group of friends emerge from the thick, marshy darkness, tattered and bloody, lucky to be alive. They have already lost two of their friends in the marsh, presumably dead. They stumble upon an empty Cape Cod vacation house alongside the foggy marsh and break in to take shelter. Whatever was in the marsh is still after them and soon after one of them goes for help, the rest of the group learns that the evil in the marsh is not the only thing that wants them dead. Something worse, something more savage, was lying in wait just outside the marsh, in the house. What happens next is unspeakable, horror that cannot be unseen. These unlucky travelers spend their St. Patrick's Day trapped between two evils forcing them to fight, die, or go back the way they came.

Pretty cool, huh?

You want more cool, how about a trailer?

Now guess what — these guys are already planning a prequel to further explain and explore the nightmarish events of the night before Muck starts. And they need us to help them get it made!
They have started a Muck Kickstarter campaign that offers backers a host of brilliant incentives. How brilliant? Meeting the cast, getting social network shoutouts from a Playboy model, getting killed by Kane Hodder levels of brilliant!
Furthermore, you can pledge now and secure a copy of Muck on DVD/Blu-Ray before it even hits cinemas! And how about a guaranteed copy of the prequel as soon as it's finished?

That’s some good shit right there, people!

Furthermore, for my UK readers, I’ve spoken to the brilliant people at the Muck team and they have confirmed that they can send stuff across the pond to us Brits for a mere $10!

Come on people, let’s get more Muck made. They’ve already got my money!

Pledge at the Muck kickstarter site here, they have a little under three days to raise less that $25,000. THIS CAN BE DONE!
Stick your hand in your pocket and help them out, in exchange you can get the sort of awesome goodies that will make your friends insanely jealous.

Check out the Muck Facebook page, give it a like and spread the word… LET’S GET MUCKY!

I’ll report back in a couple of days — hopefully with some good news!
