ALL THE WEEK'S HORROR HEADLINES (14th-21st September)

Not got time to trawl the web for all the top horror news of the last week? Well allow me to give you a bite-size breakdown of the all biggest nightmarish news!

1. ROB ZOMBIE RAMPS UP HYPE FOR 31

Rob Zombie has never been shy when it comes to promoting his movies and last week we received two new images and the following quotes!

'31 news! DOOM-HEAD (aka Richard Brake) does not fuck around. This guy is one fucking intense dude. I predict that he is the next great villian of horror.'

“Had a special screening of 31 last night,” said Zombie. “Holy fuck it was awesome! Even though the film is not 100% finished it rocked. If you loved The DEVIL’S REJECTS… well, then you will love this one.”

I loved DR so looking forward to this a lot!

2. STEPHEN KING'S THE MIST ON TV

Dimension Television is set to produce a TV adaptation of Stephen King's fantastic Lovecraftian novella The Mist. Already made into a fantastic film by Frank Darabont in 2007, this has serious potential.

3. CRIMSON PEAK IMAGES AND TV SPOT GO LIVE

I love Guillermo Del Toro's work and everything I've seen from his Gothic haunted house tale Crimson Peak has blown me away — including these amazing set images.

4. FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S WORLD IS COMING

Scott Cawthon has revealed that his next game will not be Five Nights at Freddy's 5. Boo!
Instead it's going to be a FNAF RPG based in that world called, unsurprisingly, Five Nights At Freddy's World! Hooray! 
The game is looking unlikely at hitting it's planned November release date unfortunately, but stay tuned for more release news.

5. ET'S ELLIOTT, HENRY THOMAS, JOINS CAST FOR OUIJA 2

Perhaps the most maligned of Blumhouse's offerings has been Ouija, but that doesn't matter because it made serious cash and a sequel is on the way.

Annalise Basso and Elizabeth Reaser have already joined the cast but the announcement that's got me sitting up and taking notice is that Henry Thomas, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial's Elliott will be involved too! Thomas has had some impressive outings in genre efforts such as Desperation and Fire in the Sky, so my interest is piqued.

6. NEW RELEASES

The sadly underrated Muck gets a UK DVD release this week. In my review (which you can read here) I said it's 'fun, sexy, bloody, creepy and hilarious'. Well worth checking out!

Wind Walkers is another film out this week which I've reviewed recently here at the House. In my review (which you can read here) I said it 'shows real intelligence and imagination'.

For you hip youngsters out there we're also getting the teen TV horror The Diabolical A.K.A. Uncaged, starring the gorgeous Nina Dobrev of Vampire Diaries fame. It's a werewolf flick that looks surprisingly decent!

1. JUDITH O'DEA’S BARBARA TO RETURN IN THE NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: GENESIS

Amazing casting news from V2 Pictures’ unofficial Night of the Living Dead sequel, NotLD: Genesis, Matt Cloude is bringing back star of the classic original movie, Judith O’Dea as Barbara.

I love Romero‘s original trilogy and news doesn’t get much more exciting for me. What do you think, stunt casting or cool homage?

2. NEILL BLOMKAMP’S ALIEN SEQUEL IS COMING

20th Century Fox has reached a deal with Neill Blomkamp to bring his Alien film to the big screen! It will be developed separately to Ridley Scott’s Prometheus sequel and is a sci-fi fan’s dream. 

Blomkamp had Sigourney Weaver onboard when he first touted the idea of this project, so it will be interesting to see if she is still set to star.

3. WOLF CREEK WEB SERIES IN DEVELOPMENT

Video on demand service Stan is developing a six-part web series based on Aussie horror flick Wolf Creek!
Star of Wolf Creek and its sequel, John Jarratt is expected to return as movie madman Mick Taylor in the Screentime and Emu Creek Pictures production.

I dug both Wolf Creek movies, so if this brings the extreme down and dirty nature of those to small screen, I am DOWN with this.

4. CHILD’S PLAY 7…

Do you like Chucky? Want to see more of the world’s favourite Good Guy gone bad?

Of course you do!

5. ZOMBIE MUTANT NAZI FLYING SHARKS

Honestly, I’m not making this up. Marctropolis’ upcoming Sky Sharks is poised to make Sharknado look a bit tame. The official synopsis follows:

A team of Arctic geologists stumble across an abandoned laboratory in which the Nazis developed an incredible and brutal secret weapon during the final months of WW2 .

Deep in the ice, they accidentally awake a deadly army of flying zombie sharks ridden by genetically mutated, undead super-humans, who are unleashed into the skies, wreaking their bloodthirsty revenge on any aircraft that takes to the air.

An elite task force is assembled to take on this deadly threat and stop the Sky Sharks from conquering the air, but as time runs out, the task force realises they will have to fight fire with fire, and the stage is set for the greatest flying super-mutant zombie shark air battle the world has ever seen....
